The National Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Strategy aims to integrate climate change responses into national development planning processes. It identifies the key actions to be taken to reduce the severity of the impacts of climate change— through adaptation measures, the reduction of climate risks, and the creation of benefits through mitigation and low-carbon development. It comprises three pillars:
i) Adaptation and disaster risk management;
ii) Mitigation and low carbon development; and
iii) Cross-cutting policy and planning.
Scientific knowledge on climate change — crucial for the development of policies and plans — is collected, managed and disseminated through a Knowledge Centre on Climate Change (KMC), which was established as part of the strategy
